Hasbro’s games division has rolled out a new AI-powered tool that’s aimed at helping kids and families find the perfect board game.
Game Finder launched yesterday as a dedicated website where consumers can enter prompts to find matching tabletop titles in Hasbro’s portfolio, or they can complete a short survey to determine what games fit their needs. The tool uses several human factors to make its recommendations, including game duration, party size, play style and difficulty, according to Hasbro.
For example, when prompted to look for “difficult party games,” the Game Finder recommended a strategy-themed mix of Risk Strike, Clue Conspiracy and Talisman Core. And in a second round, the tool determined that Monopoly Wicked, Game of Life: Super Mario and Monopoly Harry Potter are the “best games for licensed property enthusiasts.”
This is Hasbro’s first foray into creating AI-powered tools for players, and more are on their way. The company has been using the tech to help develop new Wizards of the Coast products, including Magic: The Gathering cards and Dungeons & Dragons expansions, CEO Chris Cocks confirmed in September.
