PBS KIDS is hoping to get young viewers excited about New Year’s Eve, with themed content drops planned in December for three fan-favorite shows.

The broadcaster will launch A Donkey Hodie New Year (a half hour special, pictured) on December 2, based on the eponymous preschool puppet series from Fred Rogers Productions and Spiffy Pictures.

Its premise will see the young donkey diving into old family traditions as she gets ready for New Year’s Eve with fellow Someplace Else residents. The special will also feature an all-cast rendition of the classic Fred Rogers song “Won’t You Be My Neighbor?” as a musical highlight.

A Donkey Hodie New Year arrives on the heels of FRP and Spiffy scoring a renewal in August for Donkey Hodie season three (15 x 22 minutes), which is due out sometime next year.

Keeping the party going, PBS KIDS will also air an NYE-themed special episode from FRP’s Alma’s Way series on December 2. Titled “No Sleep ‘Til New Year’s,” this 12-minute segment focuses on Alma and Junior, who may or may not be able to stay awake until midnight to ring in 2025.

And finally, the broadcaster will also drop a special episode of Lyla in the Loop (titled “Happy New Year, Lyla!”) on the same date, featuring a seasonal plotline about Lyla and Everett trying to make pins for everyone in time for their NYE party.
