  • Tennessee-based BlueDream Studios will co-produce Animal Crackers 2 with Spain’s Melies Producciones and Plano Subjetivo. Production is set to start in Q1 2025, and this family-friendly CG-animated sequel explores what happens when the young daughter of two circus owners gets turned into a monkey after eating a magical animal cracker cookie. Italian distributor Iuvit Media Sales brokered the co-pro deal and is representing the film worldwide. The first Animal Crackers film debuted at Annecy in 2017 and was picked up by Netflix three years later.

  • Dandelooo has acquired international distribution rights to a comedy-adventure series called Tuiga (13 x seven minutes, pictured) from Brazil’s Copa Studio. A second season (26 x seven minutes) of this 2D toon is currently in development, following the adventures of a young girl pilot and her giraffe friend as they deliver packages around the world.

  • Boat Rocker’s live-action tween drama The Next Step has scored a 10th season (20 x 30 minutes) commission from CBBC and BBC iPlayer. This new batch of episodes is in production now to premiere sometime in 2025. Distributed by Boat Rocker and BBC Studios, The Next Step airs in more than 120 countries worldwide. Its upcoming storyline will see the dance troupe trying to requalify for regionals and save its studio from financial peril.

  • Sola Media has sold Akkord Film’s CG-animated family feature The Super Elfkins in several new territories in the wake of last week’s American Film Market event in Las Vegas. New cinema distribution partners include KMBO (France), VerCine (Spain), Kino Świat (Poland) and ACME (Baltics), which will run the film next year following its debut in German theaters on December 24.
