Jakks recovers with a 4% lift in Q3 net sales

The toyco's Nintendo action figures and outdoor products helped its core toys segment grow by 7% this quarter, bouncing back from global net sales declines in Q1 and Q2.

Jakks Pacific has turned the tide on disappointing sales results in the first half of 2024, reporting that its Q3 global net sales are up by 4% over last year to US$321.6 million.

The company’s toys and consumer products segment is driving this growth, with quarterly net sales up 7% to US$264.3 million. But every division made gains in Q3, from action play & collectibles (up 5.4%) and dolls & roleplay (up 5.5%), to standout performer outdoor/seasonal toys (up 42.4% to US$18.7 million).

Jakks’ Disguise costume business was down by 10% (US$57.3 million) compared to last year’s third-quarter results (US$63.7 million). Leadership anticipated the drop, citing a lower consumer demand for costumes across North America this year. This is reflected in the regional breakdown, which shows that costume net sales declined by 11.6% in North America, but rose by 6.5% in the toyco’s international markets.

Currently in the process of building out its 2025 product lineup, Jakks has extended a global licensing deal with Nintendo of America to continue manufacturing new Mario, Donkey Kong and Zelda toys for multiple years. The company will also be rolling out new Nintendo merch throughout the holiday season, including a Mario Kart Anti-Gravity R.C Racer and new action figures featuring The Legend of Zelda’s hero Link and Metroid’s infamous bounty hunter Samus.
