Not done yet on the acquisition and investment front, Superprod has taken a majority ownership position in Philippe Alessandri’s production/distribution outfit Watch Next Media.

Watch Next has studios in France and Italy, and is best known for recent animated series such as Hello Kitty: Super Style!, Nate is Late and Boy Girl Dog Cat Mouse Cheese (pictured), although it also has a fair number of older-skewing live-action titles. Its catalogue (roughly 300 half hours) managed by distribution arm Kids First.

The company will continue to operate independently under Alessandri’s leadership as CEO, and this strategic alliance should help it more effectively navigate the international market, elevate its development and production capabilities, and attract more talent and financing. “Our association will allow us to share expertise, find natural synergies and increase our investment capacities, which will help make a difference in a market that has become more competitive than ever,” Alessandri said in a release.

Superprod Group has been gradually expanding its holdings over the last few years, acquiring Italian prodco Red Monk Studio in 2021, Doug Schwalbe’s The Co-Production Company in 2022, and Luxembourg-based Studio 352/Melusine Productions earlier this year.
