Canada’s Sinking Ship Entertainment has joined forces with Cheeky Little Media to co-produce the Aussie studio’s new CG-animated series Flower & Flour (39 x seven minutes)

ABC (Australia) and Canadian broadcasters TVOKids, SRC and Knowledge Network have committed to airing the series, which should be ready to go in 2026. Funding from Screen Australia, Canada Media Fund, Shaw Rocket Fund and Screen NSW is also part of the project’s financing picture.

Targeting four- to seven-year-olds, Flower & Flour revolves around the escapades of a young girl and her best friend—a bag of flour that acts like a cat—as they help run her family’s dumpling restaurant in a bustling metropolis. The concept was created by Dan Mansour (Spongo, Fuzz & Jalapena).

Sinking Ship is doing the animation work and distributing the series worldwide with HOPR Media and the I Mean Live Foundation while Cheeky Little Commercial takes the lead on brand management.

For Sinking Ship, Flower & Flour plays into an ongoing strategy to expand its animation portfolio. The Toronto-based studio produced Builder Brothers Dream Factory for Corus in Canada, and then branched out into service work with SpongeBob: Saving Bikini Bottom for Netflix.

“We’ve admired Cheeky Little Media and their wonderful collection of shows for a long time. We’ve been eager to collaborate with them, and as soon as they introduced us to Flower & Flour, we were captivated,” says Carla De Jong, Sinking Ship’s head of co-production and international partnerships. “These lovable characters bring such a perfect blend of humor and charm that we knew we had found the ideal project to work on together.”
