Vancouver’s Wind Sun Sky Entertainment (Future Chicken Today Show) has partnered with Toronto-based talent agency Viral Nation to co-develop and co-produce a pair of series based on YouTuber Like Nastya, along with 2B Productions in the US.

Positioning the 10-year-old’s popular brand to reach more than one demo, this collaboration will yield a 2D-animated series for kids ages five to eight, as well as a live-action series for tween audiences. 

The toon’s 11-minute episodes will see an animated version of Nastya (voiced by herself) and her canine companion Like use a special translation app to understand and save a variety of animals in distress. With a longer half-hour format, the live-action show tags along with the influencer as she makes a move to LA and lands her own TV show.

It’s all part of a broader strategy that Wind Sun Sky and Viral Nation are embarking on to mine the creator economy and develop original, multiplatform content. Interestingly, this partnership comes just months after the two companies inked a similar agreement to produce content together for YouTuber family The McCartys (12.9 million subscribers). This build will result in  a package of animated shorts, a longer-form toon series and a Roblox game.

The Like Nastya brand ranks among the most popular made-for-kids YouTube pages, with a focus on learning, play and music content. Her flagship channel has 121 million subscribers, with an estimated 350 million overall including her localized channels. Following a first linear TV deal that was inked last year, indie distributor Janson Media signed on this summer to sell Like Nastya content on global VOD platforms, signaling growing momentum for the brand beyond the YouTube ecosystem.
