Canada’s Landslide Entertainment and Arcana Studio have joined forces to adapt the graphic novel Max Velocity as a same-name 2D-animated short series.
Published by Arcana, the graphic novel was created, illustrated and written by Graeme Partridge-David. It features a speedy young superhero with autism who ventures out on daring missions with his friends.
The animated series is currently in pre-production, and its partners have signed a non-exclusive development agreement with Canadian broadcaster Toon-A-Vision, according to Arcana Studio’s head of development Lauren Gillies. She adds that the plan is to eventually produce a longer-form series with more episodes.
Max Velocity is funded by the Canada Media Fund and Shaw Rocket Fund through their Digital Animated Series Program.
This story originally appeared in Kidscreen’s sister publication Playback.
