Studio 100 International is moving from bees to ants with Arnie & Barney, a new animated movie for tweens/teens and families that is the first spinoff of its popular Maya the Bee franchise.
In production at Studio 100’s film studio Isar Animation and Spanish service partner 3 Doubles Producciones, the pic blends pop-culture quips with slapstick humor to tell the story of a pair of lovable, bumbling ants who become unlikely heroes when they save their colony from a severe drought.
Recently featured in Entertainment Weekly‘s “100 Most Creative People in Entertainment” roundup, Australian comedy group The Umbilical Brothers (a.k.a. Shane Dundas and David Collins) are the voice actors behind Arnie and Barney. They also helped Fin Edquist (200% Wolf, Maya the Bee) write the film’s script.
Studio 100 is handling international sales for the movie, which should be wrapped and delivered in early 2026. Next up, the team is planning to pitch it next month at AFM (American Film Market) in Las Vegas.
Lucrecia Magnanini recently joined Studio 100 as manager of sales and acquisitions for international movie projects. She was previously a manager of international sales, acquisitions and marketing at Telepool’s Global Screen. In her new role, Magnanini will be responsible for managing theatrical sales in key markets such as Latin America, Eastern Europe and Asia, and she will also manage in-flight rights.
