Hasbro Entertainment (HE) has recruited Zach Edwin, former director of non-fiction development at Sony Pictures Television, to spearhead a fledgling unscripted division that already has several new projects brewing in its pipeline.
Hasbro just delivered Trivial Pursuit and Scrabble, two series it developed with Lionsgate that The CW will premiere in the US today. And TV formats based on Monopoly, NERF and Clue are currently in the works with SPT’s nonfiction team.
Edwin’s job is to develop more of Hasbro’s well-known toy and game brands into unscripted formats and game shows, as well as managing partnerships with other studios and distributors. He reports to Hasbro Entertainment’s head of TV, Gabriel Marano. At Sony, Edwin developed premium content for major streamers such as Max (Selena + Chef), (Netflix) Indian Matchmaking and Amazon Prime Video (Pokemon: Trainer Tour).
Hasbro Entertainment launched in August 2023 with 35 projects in development and production across film, TV, kids and digital. Last month it premiered the animated feature film Transformers One.
