  • Gaumont has signed a first batch of broadcast sales for its Netflix original Samurai Rabbit: The Usagi Chronicles (20 x 22 minutes), with Germany’s ZDF/KiKA set to premiere it on October 7 and MTVA in Hungary at a later time. This CG-animated action-adventure title premiered on the global streamer in 2022, targeting eight- to 12-year-olds with a story about a teenage rabbit on a quest to become a great warrior. Dark Horse publishes the comics that gave birth to the series concept—and there are more than 200 issues to draw from for season two, which is in development now.
  • Banijay Kids & Family Distribution has picked up worldwide rights to sell Piripenguins (52 x 11 minutes) outside of North America. This 2D/CG-animated series from London-based Eaglet Films was commissioned by BBC Children’s & Education and RAI Kids in June, and Italy’s Red Monk Studio and Wild Child Animation in Scotland are co-producing.
  • Sinking Ship Entertainment’s longtime licensing partners Safari (toys) and Mango Publishing (books) are prepping new product ranges for the studio’s soon-to-launch series Dino Dex. Safari will release a collection of Dino Dig kits later this year, while Mango has a matching card game on deck to hit shelves in early 2025. Dino Dex will premiere in the US (Amazon Prime and Amazon Kids+) this month, before rolling out in Canada on TVOKids, TFO and Knowledge Network in November.
  • Nickelodeon and Paramount have cooked up a new SpongeBob SquarePants partnership with Off The Menu and The MRG Group. This deal will see 250-plus local family restaurants (including Wendy’s) across North America begin offering food items inspired by the Krabby Patty, the famous fictional burger featured in the long-running toon, between October 8 and early November.
  • In the same vein, Amazon MGM Studios Consumer Products is working with Burger King to roll out four new menu items inspired by characters from The Addams Family. The QSR chain will also drop limited-edition King Jr. Meal toys based on the IP, kicking off next week in Canada (October 7) and the US (October 10).
