Comic book publisher DC is looking to attract a younger generation of fans with a new early-reader graphic novel range that will start rolling out next year.
Targeting kids ages five to seven, Superman’s Good Guy Gang will be the first of these titles to come out worldwide in July 2025—the same month James Gunn’s much-anticipated Superman film is hitting theaters.
Written and illustrated by American author Rob Justus (Kid Coach and Brave Enough), the book revolves around Clark Kent as a nine-year-old who forms a new club for would-be superheroes looking to master their developing powers and work together as a crime-fighting team. Volume one will feature Hawkgirl and Green Lantern, with other caped crusaders such as Batman and Wonder Woman set to join the gang in future titles.
DC is also serving up two new books for middle-graders next year, with Supergirl: Cosmic Adventures in the 8th Grade and Kid Flash: Going Rogue landing on store shelves later in the summer. Penned by Landry Walker and Eric Jones, the Supergirl title is due out in August, featuring a story about Superman’s cousin Kara Zor-El living on Earth as an eighth-grader and facing off against supervillains and scheming faculty members. And creative duo Steve Foxe and Jerry Gaylord are behind the latest Kid Flash release, which sees the young superhero team up with his uncle and mentor the Flash to teach a group of rogues how to use their superpowers responsibly.
Rounding out DC’s 2025 lineup are YA titles Birds of Prey: The Origins, Teen Titans: Together and Nubia: Too Real, all slated for release in Q4.
