- Future Today is adding two originals, Minecraft’s WitchCraft (15 x 18 minutes) and Roblox series Halloween Dreams (15 x 20 minutes), which it co-produced with gaming studios BigB and AmyLee, onto its HappyKids streamer later this month. WitchCraft (premiering this week) is about a young magician working to get her witch license, while Halloween Dreams (launching next week) revolves around a guy whose obsession with Halloween is translated into challenges/minigames in his dreams. Both shows are aimed at kids six and up. HappyKids also picked up first seasons of Caillou (WildBrain), The Deep (Guru) and Sid the Science Kid (The Jim Henson Company), as well as season five of LEGO Group’s The Monkie Kid (WildBrain).
- Former PGS sales chief Xavi Mas’ Liquid Rock Entertainment has acquired global distribution rights to Superthings: Rivals of Kaboom (pictured, 52 x seven minutes). This CG-animated series is based on Spanish toyco Magicbox’s same-name toy brand, which has sold more than 250 million SKUs in 30-plus countries. Targeting kids ages six and up, Superthings stars a team of young heroes (made from everyday objects including pencil sharpeners and oranges) protecting their city from supervillains. Spain’s TVE premiered the series on September 12, and TV3 and À Punt also have rights to air it domestically. A second season (co-produced in Spain by Filmax, Tandem Films and Turanga Animation Studios) and a 2026 theatrical film are in development.
