Switzerland’s CosmoBlue Media has acquired full ownership of London-based family entertainment company Macademia, which owns and operates kids SVODs Azoomee and Da Vinci.

Macademia’s streamers are available in more than 250 million households across 100-plus countries. Azoomee targets kids ages five and up, while Da Vinci skews a little older to hit the six to 11 demo.

Azoomee’s catalogue contains a healthy number of games, as well as animated and live-action series such as Alvinnn!!! and the Chipmunks (Bagdasarian/Technicolor), Zoe & Milo (PM SA) and Earth to Luna! (TV PinGuim). Da Vinci also features live-action and animated series, plus documentaries and reality series for families. Its lineup includes Maverick Television’s Operation Ouch (pictured), True North’s Junior Vets and The Deep (A Stark Production/WildBrain).

Both brands are available as subscription-based FAST channels, as well as apps on tablets and smartphones. All told, Da Vinci claims to average 700 million minutes of watch time per month.

CosmoBlue is a production, streaming and investment company that operates a CosmoKids Network pay-TV channel for the under-six audience that’s running roughly 200 hours of programming, with 400 hours in a digital library. It just launched a same-name YouTube channel on August 2 that currently only features one 2D-animated series called Chiccolata

CosmoBlue’s plan is to focus on kids, sports, movies and telenovelas. This is its second acquisition, following the October 2023 purchase of short film streamer Sofy.tv. Taking over Macademia is a major step towards diversifying its content and establishing global reach, according to a release.

“[Macademia’s] exceptional lineup and strong global presence will allow us to expand our family and educational programming offering,” said Cosmo Blue founders Berk Uziyel and Loni Farhi. “Together, we will continue to inspire, educate and entertain audiences across the globe in innovative and engaging ways. There will be further assets that will be added to the CosmoBlue portfolio very soon.”
