Dr. Seuss Enterprises wants to reach families and educators on YouTube, and has enlisted Little Dot Studios to create new content in support of these ambitions.

All3Media-owned Little Dot has already delivered several original animated and live-action preschool series for the Dr. Seuss channel, including Dr. Seuss Storytime, The Lorax’s Nature Club ,The Cat in The Hat’s Quirky Quiz and Draw Your Dream Pet.

This new content is part of an initiative to reenergize the five-year-old channel, which only has 89,000 subscribers and hadn’t refreshed its video library in several months before the advent of this major infusion.

Dr. Seuss Enterprises has scored plenty of hits with films, animated series, books and broad consumer products programs based on iconic brands such as The Grinch and The Cat in the Hat. And its next goal is to replicate this success on YouTube, says president and CEO Susan Brandt.

“YouTube is such an important entertainment destination for families,” says Brandt. “We expect our channel will be a go-to resource for parents and teachers looking for content they can confidently share with the children in their care.”

Nielsen’s latest Media Distributor Gauge report for July shows that YouTube claimed a 10.4% share of total TV usage in the US (beating out every other streamer). Kids are driving this momentum, with the under-17 audience logging 30% of all YouTube viewing in July.

As part of its bid to establish a YouTube stronghold, Dr. Seuss Enterprises also commissioned Little Dot to create the first series for its new preschool brand Dr. Seuss Babies, Learn to Read with Dr. Seuss Babies. Varying in length from five to 15 minutes, some episodes have already rolled out on the Seuss YouTube channel, and new ones will continue to drop every Friday.

As part of its arrangement with Dr. Seuss Enterprises, Little Dot is now managing the channel, including targeted paid advertising.
