Korea’s The Pinkfong Company is on the cusp of opening its first permanent store showcasing its iconic Baby Shark franchise, and it expects the Hong Kong location to serve as a model for future retail expansion plans.
The grand opening of the 1,300-square-foot destination in Hong Kong’s Times Square shopping center is set for September 14. Pinkfong will stock the store’s shelves with more than 600 licensed Baby Shark products for preschoolers and kids, spanning toys, apparel, books and stationery.
In addition to this wide merch assortment, Pinkfong has built a dedicated Baby Shark Playzone where kids can engage and play with their favorite characters from the show. This 300-square-foot area will initially feature activities including painting, music play, puzzles and selfie zones where shoppers can take pictures with Baby Shark.
Pinkfong followed a similar retail blueprint when it partnered with the Pangyo Hyundai Department Store in South Korea to launch a Baby Shark pop-up store in February. This storefront was built to celebrate the 2023 release of feature film Baby Shark’s Big Movie!, but it featured a much smaller assortment of 35 licensed products.
