Candle Media-owned Moonbug Entertainment is expanding its CoComelon universe in a new live-action series that marks a first for the brand. 

Melon Patch Classroom features Ms. Appleberry, the teacher character from CoComelon’s animated videos. Her lessons in the new preschool show will include singing, laughing and early learning, along with special guest stars. Moonbug is keeping a tight lid on other details for now.

The mediaco released a teaser for the series today, and will reveal the show’s official release date and a full trailer “soon,” a spokesperson says, adding that Melon Patch Classroom is expected to debut during this fall’s back-to-school season. 

Moonbug introduced Ms. Appleberry in 2019, and the first video she appears in, “First Day of School,” has since racked up more than a billion views on YouTube. The kind and caring teacher has become one of the best-loved and most-recognizable characters in the CoComelon franchise, according to the company. 

CoComelon is not only Moonbug’s flagship property—it’s also one of the most popular kids IPs in the world. The brand’s animated music videos, educational content and nursery rhymes have gathered more than 180 million subscribers on YouTube (making it the third most-subscribed channel globally). 

Since acquiring CoComelon in 2020, Moonbug has expanded it into linear, streaming and a host of consumer products.
