Popular preschool brands Sesame Street and Ms. Rachel have joined forces to launch three YouTube videos featuring the educator singing new songs with some well-known Muppets backing her up
A lead video called “Sesame Street: This is the Way We Go to School Song with Ms. Rachel and Elmo” launched yesterday and features Elmo learning how to get ready for school. It’s available on both brands’ YouTube channels (24 million subscribers for Sesame Street, and Ms. 11 million for Ms. Rachel) and will be joined by two more starring Elmo, Cookie Monster and Abby later this year.
Ms. Rachel (real name Rachel Griffin-Accurso) only launched her channel in 2019, so she has built a large audience quickly for her brand of educational content for toddlers, which includes learn-to-talk videos, ASL tutorials and nursery rhymes. Last year, she generated more than 400 million views a month.
Drawn to her popularity, other brands that have recently signed deals and collaborations with Ms. Rachel include Aussie kids music group The Wiggles, resulting in the April debut of a 30-minute YouTube video about getting ready to go to school for the first time; and Spin Master, which signed on as a global master toy partner last year to create plush, puzzles, playsets and language-learning tools.
