Craig Hunter (pictured) has started a new chapter in his illustrious career, joining Amazon Kids+ two months ago as a senior creative executive. His responsibilities include oversight of creative, development and production for a growing slate of shows.
Based in LA, Hunter reports directly to Aaron Berman, head of original series for the Kids+ service. It’s been less than a year since Amazon promoted Berman into this role to replace Veronica Pickett, who left the company in January.
Hunter has roughly two decades of experience in kids entertainment—and he most recently spent two years at YouTube building shows like The EggVenturers (Goldieblox) and Corpse Talk (Tiger Aspect Kids & Family). He joined the company as global head of preschool for YouTube Originals in 2021, and then moved up to global head of kids and family in 2022. Hunter’s tenure ended abruptly in January 2023 when he was let go in a wave of 12,000 layoffs at Google. He has since been working as an independent consultant/advisor for companies including Kids at Play, Noggin and Macro.
Before joining YouTube, Hunter spent nearly nine years at Sony Pictures Television in the UK, overseeing kids programming in a variety of exec roles. And earlier in his career, he worked at Nickelodeon (creative content manager/senior graphics exec) and Disney (production coordinator).
Popular series currently available in the Amazon Kids+ library include Hello Kitty: Super Style!, Blippi’s Treehouse and Angry Birds Mystery Island.
