- Nine months after announcing the deal, MGA Entertainment has completed its merger with European baby doll manufacturer Zapf Creation. As for next steps, both companies will work together to consolidate the business and unify their strategy with retail partners worldwide. MGA has no organizational or operational changes planned for its new subsidiary at this time, and Thomas Eichhorn will stay on as president of the rebranded entity MGA Zapf Creation.
- LA-based toy manufacturer KessCo is gearing up to manufacture its second Sonic-themed tabletop game, under license from SEGA of America. Sonic Speed Battle will roll out at Barnes & Noble this summer, followed by a wider US launch at Target and Amazon later this year. The card game features three modes of play, including battling it out with 24 characters from across Sonic’s history, speeding through raceways, and hunting down the Master Emerald. KessCo picked up its Sonic license last June and launched Sonic Roll in Q1 2024.
