Elizabeth Randall, head of development (indies) and executive producer at BBC Studios Kids & Family, is leaving the company next month as part of a planned round of job cuts.

According to a March 2024 report from Broadcast, the Beeb’s commercial arm has been planning to eliminate up to 13 kids development and production positions.

“As BBC Studios Kids & Family navigates a challenging market and increases its production focus on live action and animation, the business needs more flexibility to better resource peak periods and reduce downtime costs,” a spokesperson said at the time. “Regrettably, this means we are proposing to close a number of permanent roles, and we have now entered into a period of consultation with the staff members impacted.”

Randall has been with BBC Studios for 12 years, originally joining in 2012 as a personal assistant to the comedy team. But she shifted focus two years in and embarked on a career development path in kids content—first as children’s content manager (2014 to 2020) and then in her current role since 2020—and has played a critical role in managing the children’s development pipeline since, working closely with UK-based and international producers on hit shows including Hey Duggee, Sarah & Duck and Andy’s Safari Adventures.
