Deals in Brief – June 12, 2024

Banijay Kids & Family closes new sales and renewals for Tiger Aspect's Charlie and Lola, and Little Engine's Tiny and Tall gets a second-season order from TVOKids in Canada.

  • Banijay Kids & Family has closed a handful of new sales for Tiger Aspect’s preschool series Charlie and Lola, which first launched on CBeebies in 2005. TG4 (Ireland) and Asiana (South Korea) have picked up all three seasons (78 x 11 minutes), with NRK (Norway) acquiring just seasons two and three. And Germany’s WDR and NPO in the Netherlands have both renewed their licenses to the 2D-animated series.
  • TVOKids has greenlit Little Engine Moving Pictures’ CG/mocap preschool series Tiny and Tall for a second season (26 x 5.5 minutes) that’s in production now and set for a spring 2025 delivery. Featuring two very different best friends who come together to teach basic math, counting and sorting skills, Tiny and Tall launched on the Canadian pubcaster last October.
  • France TV Distribution has acquired global sales rights to the second season of Autour de Minuit’s Super Caribou, after selling season one in more than 50 countries. A new batch of 52 x 11-minute eps are in production now and expected to deliver in Q4 2024/Q1 2025. Aimed at kids ages five to eight, the show is based on a series of books by Magali Le Huche (Penguin Random House). 
  • US broadcaster BYUtv has ordered seasons three and four (10 x 20 minutes each) of Sphere Animation’s 2D-animated series Saving Me. Both should be completed by June 2026. This show for tweens-plus is about an aging billionaire who travels back in time and teams up with his 11-year-old self to figure out how to be a better person.
