The world’s biggest streamer is certainly betting big on animation in 2024/2025, showing off a packed slate of toon productions and teasing new projects, images and voice cast news at yesterday’s Next on Netflix: Animation event in LA.

One hot ticket that’s in the works is Plankton: The Movie (pictured), a CG-animated SpongeBob SquarePants spinoff pic due out in 2025 that will spotlight teeny antagonist Plankton and his thwarted plans for world domination.

Also on the books for next year is Motel Transylvania, a new family series based on Sony’s popular Hotel Transylvania movie franchise that tags along with Drac and Mavis as they open up a brand-new resort for humans and monsters in the California desert.

K-Pop: Demon Hunters (working title) from Michelle Wong and Sony Pictures Animation was in the mix of 2025 film announcements. It’s still unclear what the target demo of this project will be, but it’s about a K-pop girl group that does double-duty tracking down all manner of devils and fiends.

And finally, Netflix has renewed Jurassic World: Chaos Theory for a second season—which should premiere sometime this fall.

Animation has proven to be a reliable viewership magnet on Netflix, with Moonbug’s CoComelon (roughly 200 million views) and DreamWorks’ The Boss Baby (61.7 million) posting impressive numbers in its latest engagement report released last month.

More details on Netflix’s upcoming animated releases, including previously announced projects, are available on the streamer’s Tudum website.
