BBC Studios Kids & Family has inked a first-look deal with London-based indie studio Blink Industries—the division’s first exclusive creative partnership since it was formed in 2022 by the Beeb’s in-house kids production folding into BBC Studios.
Under the two-year agreement, BBC Studios Kids & Family will have exclusive access to Blink’s slate of developing animation and live-action projects, and it plans to bring a first batch of them to market ahead of MIPCOM in October.
The two companies have a pre-existing relationship that goes back several years; BBC Studios Kids & Family signed on in 2023 to distribute Blink’s 2D-animated short film Peter and the Wolf (pictured, 30 minutes), a co-pro with music conglom BMG for Max/Cartoon Network. And Blink produced a live-action/puppet-based miniseries called Teddles (five x two minutes) that CBeebies ordered in 2019.
Blink is behind buzzy kids shows such as Netflix tween toon Dead End: Paranormal Park (20 x 24 minutes) and upcoming spooky comedy The Sunnyridge 3 for Disney EMEA. And last month, the studio teased more projects in the works when it announced its hire of former LEGO and Mattel exec Courtney Arumugam to run its animation and development teams.
