WildBrain CPLG is expanding the consumer products program for HarperCollins Productions’ Carmen Sandiego franchise, with three new licensees lined up to broaden the IP’s North American reach.
Starting with toys, WildBrain CPLG has signed LA-based toyco The Loyal Subjects to manufacture and distribute a new range of Carmen Sandiego fashion dolls and figures next year. TLS is best known for its BST AXN line of licensed action figures, including Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Avatar: The Last Airbender, Naruto and Lord of the Rings.
Meanwhile, Florida’s Best Damn Race is tasked with designing a Carmen Sandiego-branded virtual race challenge, encouraging families of runners to sign up and log their miles across the globe in this year’s fourth quarter. (Earlier this year, HarperCollins worked with the company to launch The Oregon Trail virtual race, which challenges users to complete the historic 2,024-mile journey with up to six friends and awards a special medal, patch and digital checkpoint badges for completing each of the race’s 10 legs.)
In further Carmen Sandiego news, German toyco tonies launched a new figure of the intrepid thief earlier this week (pictured), which kids can use with its Toniebox audio system to hear an original story of Carmen’s global escapades while learning geography and history.
