UAE-based streamer Begin has signed a multi-year agreement with NBCUniversal Global TV Distribution to license content exclusively in Pakistan.

Under the deal, the fledgling streamer—which officially launches on May 31—is acquiring some of NBCUniversal’s biggest kids and family movies, including all four Despicable Me and Kung Fu Panda films, plus Turbo, Trolls and Megamind. The deal also covers first-run and library films and series, with Fast X, Ted and Oppenheimer among the titles heading to Begin. The titles will be available on the app starting in mid July.

The platform soft-launched in April on smart TVs, PCs, Android and IOS devices in the Southwest Asian region, backed by Pakistani venture accelerator Z2C Limited. And earlier this month, Begin signed a one-year deal to acquire exclusive and non-exclusive rights to Sony Pictures Entertainment’s content, including family-friendly movies The Smurfs and The Amazing Spider-Man 2.

The streamer is looking for more kids content, co-founder and chief commercial officer Jonathan Mark told Kidscreen earlier this month.
