- Canada’s Pink Parrot Media is coming away from this week’s Cannes Film Festival with several freshly inked deals for CG-animated feature film Hanna and the Monsters, produced by Doce Entertainment and Mr. Miyagi Films. This kids & family pic that flips the script to feature monsters who are petrified of humans has sold to World Visions (CIS), Boxoo (South Korea), Front Row (Middle East), GPI (Baltics), Wediacorp (Turkey) and Movie Company (Benelux). Doce and Miyagi are also working on a sequel film called Hanna and the Forgotten Christmas that will be ready for distribution in Q1 2025.
- Ahead of Licensing Expo and in celebration of Strawberry Shortcake’s 45th anniversary, WildBrain CPLG has closed deals with several new licensees and partners. Joining the brand’s robust consumer products program are retailer FYE (in-store takeovers); digital nail salon Pamper Nails (themed mystery boxes); Skinnydip and Shein (apparel); and TeeTurtle (scented plush toys). TeeTurtle will also release a new line of Teletubbies plush toys in the summer.
- Brit toyco Heathside Trading has signed a licensing agreement with Ubisoft to manufacture and distribute a line of blind-pack toys and collectibles based on the gameco’s Rabbids IP. This popular series about a bunch of chaotic and wacky creatures had sold more than 20 million units on its own as of 2019, and it has also been paired up with Mario in two mash-up titles—Mario+Rabbids Kingdom Hall (2017) and Mario+Rabbids Sparks of Hope (2022)—that performed well at market.
