In anticipation of the international launch of Beyblade X products next month, Hasbro has unveiled its first-ever co-branded range of battling tops featuring iconic characters from the Transformers franchise.

The toyco is manufacturing a pair of new Beyblade X multipack sets for kids ages eight and up that will see Optimus Prime face off against his archrival Megatron, and Optimus Primal battle the mischievous Decepticon Starscream. These two SKUs will roll out to retailers worldwide a month after the June launch of Hasbro’s Beyblade X Xtreme Battle Starter Set, which comes packaged with two die-cast metal tops, a stadium and a matching set of launchers.

The new gameplay gimmick of Beyblade X’s system is that the bottoms of the metal tops have teeth that can latch onto the rails of the stadium to increase their speed and execute powerful dash attacks against other Beyblades.

Last year, Hasbro renewed its international partnership with IP owner Takara TOMY in Japan for a fourth generation of Beyblades products. TOMY has overseen the rollout of more than 30 Beyblade X SKUs in Japan since launching the toy line last year; and Hasbro has licensed these designs and will manufacture and distribute them everywhere else in the world.
