New Jersey’s Horizon Group USA has just released the first products to come out of its new licensing deal with Lucasfilm for STEM-based activity kits based on the iconic sci-fi brand from a galaxy far, far away.

Horizon’s Star Wars SLIMYGLOOP tactile slime jars delivered to North American retailers including Amazon and Barnes & Noble in time for May the 4th last week. And the toyco will follow up later in the year with Lightsaber engineering kits that let kids ages six and up assemble Darth Vader’s or Obi-Wan Kenobi’s signature weapons, plus a Grow & Glow Kyber Crystal chemistry set.

Chief commercial officer Evan Buzzerio says Horizon designed the kits in collaboration with Lucasfilm in order to ensure they’re lore-accurate, as well as working with research scientists to make the subject matter of engineering, chemistry and geology accessible to kids of all ages.

Horizon launched in 1912 and is best known for its wide range of DIY activity kits, including brands such as Made by Me! (crafts), Creative Roots (gardening) and Just My Style (jewelry-making). In March, the company inked a new deal with Hasbro to manufacture and distribute a range of Play-Doh playsets and compounds early next year.
