Apparel-maker Hanna Andersson hires ex-Apple/Gap brand-builder

Grace Wong will develop and execute new marketing strategies for the manufacturer's original and licensed clothing lines as its new chief brand officer.

Oregon-based children’s apparel manufacturer Hanna Andersson has tapped former Apple and Gap exec Grace Wong to set and implement its marketing strategy as chief brand officer.

Relocating from LA to Portland to join the company late last month, Wong replaces Callie Canfield, who left in early February. She’s tasked with positioning Hanna Andersson for growth and overseeing the creative development of all brand and product assets, reporting to CEO Aimée Lapic.

Hanna Andersson is best known for its sustainably made kids apparel and pajama sets, which feature a mix of organic cotton and recycled materials. The company has licensed major brands including Sesame Street, Disney Princesses, Star Wars, Pokémon and most recently Bluey for its capsule collections.

Wong is coming off a seven-year stint at Apple, where she served as VP of global marketing for the Beats by Dre brand. During her tenure, she oversaw the 2021 launches of two top-performing products, the Beats Studio Buds and Beats Fit Pro.

But the bulk of Wong’s marketing experience comes from 16 years she spent working at Gap in a series of escalating senior executive roles such as VP of global marketing and senior director of brand communications. Her accomplishments there included leading the marketing efforts to launch Gap and Old Navy stores in Mainland China (2010) and India (2015), as well as overseeing the creative development of the GapKids x Ellen DeGeneres collaboration in 2015.
