Universal Orlando Resort has unveiled a new collection of Mario and Donkey Kong attractions that will open as part of its Super Nintendo World theme park experience next year.

In Super Mario Land, guests can speed through an AR raceway in Mario Kart: Bowser’s Challenge (pictured); enjoy scenic views of the park on the Yoshi’s Adventure ride; and order food inspired by the franchise’s characters at the Toadstool Cafe.

Donkey Kong Country is also set to launch at the US park after making a first appearance at Universal Studios Japan late last year. The star attraction of this tropical gaming area is the Mine-Cart Madness roller coaster, which will speed guests along rickety tracks and through barrels with Donkey and his pal Diddy on a mission to protect their prized golden banana.

This marks Universal’s third Super Nintendo World build; the first one in Japan has been operational since 2020, and a Hollywood resort location opened last year. The other four worlds inside the studio’s 750-acre Epic Universe theme park are: How to Train Your Dragon—Isle of Berk, The Wizarding World of Harry Potter—Ministry of Magic, Celestial Park and Dark Universe.

Universal Orlando Resort broke ground on Epic Universe in 2019, but had to delay construction until March 2021 due to the pandemic. The build is expected to cost more than US$1 billion.
