Looking to get more families up and moving, San Francisco-based tech company Nex is expanding its partnership with toy giant Hasbro.
Nex launched in 2018 and specializes in developing motion-based games for its Nex Playground device (featuring a built-in movement tracker and AI-powered camera), which lets players control on-screen action with their bodies. Last year, the company teamed up with Hasbro for the first time on Peppa Pig: Jump & Giggle, and now they’re coming back together to make three new titles based on the toyco’s classic family board games.
Hungry Hungry Hippos: Move N’ Munch (pictured) launched yesterday and is based on the eponymous tabletop game. Up to four players can participate, and the goal is to jump and wave one’s arms to help the hippos eat various fruits. The other two titles (slated to roll out later this year) will put a new spin on Connect 4 and Candyland, targeting players ages five and up with learning and skill-building opportunities around strategy, hand-eye coordination and SEL.
All three games will be available as part of Nex Playground’s “Play Pass” content subscription bundle.
Earlier this year, Nex also signed a deal with Sesame Workshop for active learning games featuring characters from Sesame Street.
