  • Under a new “ourHOME” campaign, Disney and Nat Geo have curated a collection of existing and new content to celebrate Earth Day 2024 today. The package includes Nat Geo’s three-part special Secrets of the Octopus (the latest installment of its Secrets of… franchise), with narration by actor Paul Rudd. And Disney+ is premiering Tiger (featured image), a documentary pic from Disneynature that follows a young tigress in India, narrated by actor Priyanka Chopra Jonas. Running on linear net Disney Channel all day today is a programming marathon featuring themed episodes and specials from its most popular shows. And Freeform channel is airing animal- and environment-themed features films, including titles from the Ice Age and Finding Nemo franchise.

Welcome, a new toon from Titan1Studios aimed at the six to eight set, is slated to launch on Earth Day 2025.

  • Toronto’s Titan1Studios is developing its first kids show—an eco-themed CG-animated series called Welcome that will (aptly) premiere on Earth Day 2025. Aimed at six- to eight-year-olds, it tells the story of a young squid who moves to Vancouver Island, where she befriends beavers and learns to make the world a little more green.

Canadian streamer The Green Channel has pre-bought Welcome (six x 11 minutes), and select eps will also drop on a dedicated website, supported by short-form content on digital platforms such as YouTube and TikTok. Titan1Studios’ Calgary-based subsidiary Missing Socks Entertainment is handling the animation, and the project’s creative team includes writer Jon Cooksey (Rugrats) and director Mathias Horhager (Blue’s Clues & You).

  • The Aspen Institute in Washington has teamed up with Encantos in LA to launch a new YouTube series designed to teach seven- to 12-year-olds all about climate action. Each episode of This is Cooler will be set in a different city, featuring teens breaking down the science of global warming and sharing eco-friendly tips.

A first six-minute segment—focused on Miami, with a special appearance from Cuban-American singer Gloria Estefan—dropped in March and has already racked up 3.7 million views on YouTube. Encantos CEO Susie Jaramillo noted in a release that the plan is to expand the ongoing series with at least five more eps by 2025.
