Italy’s Brand Cross has inked several new broadcast deals for its 2D-animated preschool series Leo’s World (22 x 12 minutes), which is about a boy on the autism spectrum.
Latvia’s LTV (both seasons) and Switzerland’s RSI (season two) are both planning to launch the show in their regions on April 2 to coincide with World Autism Awareness Day. And Samsung TV+ (Korea), MTVA (Hungary) and beIN (MENA) are also planning to start airing it later this year.
Leo’s World premiered on RAI in 2022 and revolves around a six-year-old who travels to magical worlds to learn how to manage his emotions and try new things. It was created by Eleonara Vittoni (who has twins with autism), and IULM psychology professor Paolo Moderato oversaw the production.
Kids shows that highlight and serve autistic kids have been gathering steam with buyers lately. PBS KIDS is gearing up for the November launch of Carl the Collector, its first series featuring a cast of characters on the autism spectrum. And Sky Kids in the UK rolled out BooSnoo! In February, with a second-season renewal already confirmed.
