British broadcaster Sky has added two new 2D-animated series for its preschool viewers: Happy Town (pictured above) and Let’s Go, Bananas! (pictured below).
Both titles will roll out sometime this year on the Sky Kids linear channel, which launched a year ago to serve the under-seven demo.
Happy Town is a 50 x seven-minute series about two besties, a hedgehog and a ladybird, who live in a colorful town and work hard to help others in their community. Mel B from the Spice Girls is lending her voice to the toon, which was created by director James Fox and will be produced by London-based Happy Town Productions.
Let’s Go, Bananas! (52 x 11 minutes) is a 9 Story Media Group/Brown Bag Films comedy-driven concept centering around the lives of three neighboring families who end up bonding even though they are from different animal species. Canadian broadcaster CBC Kids commissioned the series and 9 Story owns worldwide distribution and merchandising rights to the show, which will debut on CBC and CBC Gem this Spring.
Tim Bain (Bluey) created Let’s Go, Bananas! , which is billed as a “celebration of different family structures” for young audiences. Sonia Santarelli (Phineas and Ferb) will produce with EP Lisa Mackintosh for Sky Kids.

Correction: Canada’s CBC Kids is the commissioning broadcaster of Let’s Go, Bananas! while Sky Kids pre-bought the series. An earlier version of the story stated that Sky Kids commissioned the series.
