Disney+ has licensed all 25 seasons of Om Nom Stories from UK studio Zeptolab (Cut the Rope) for its European service.
The 2D-animated short series (250 x 3.5 minutes) revolves around a tiny green creature whose love of candy fuels the slapstick comedy in episodes driven by typical preschool experiences like taking a bath and getting scared. Disney+ plans to launch the package in Q4.
Om Nom Stories is Zeptolab’s flagship animated series, building on the Om Nom Stories YouTube channel, which boasts more than four million subscribers and has generated 15 billion-plus views, according to the company.
Last year, Netflix picked up and launched three seasons of the preschool series, which has also aired on channels and platforms including China’s Tencent (seasons one to 10), Turner in Latin America (seasons one to five) and Australia’s Nine Network (sixteen seasons). Om Nom Stories is a spinoff from Zeptolab’s 14-year-old Cut the Rope mobile game franchise, which is all about cutting ropes to give Om Nom candy. Collectively, the 12 games have been downloaded more than 1.6 billion times to date.
