France Télévisions and Italy’s Rai Kids have set a double-season order for preschool toon Miniheroes of the Forest (pictured, 52 x seven minutes).
Italian prodcos Movimenti Production and MoBo are helming the CG-animated series, and Zodiak Kids & Family France is attached as co-producer. Banijay Kids & Family Distribution is shopping the series worldwide.
Miniheroes of the Forest is an adaptation of the same-name books from French publisher Auzou, which have been released in more than 15 countries to date.
Superheroism meets the woodlands in this show about a bunny, a bear, a fox and an owl who each have special and wholesome powers—such as a “Bunny Hug” that helps others feel better. Each ep follows the gang as they suit up in their hero costumes after school to go exploring in the woods.
Movimenti’s Magali Fuzellier and MoBo’s Ilaria Mazzonis are executive producing with Zodiak Kids & Family France’s Ludovic Taron. Massimo Montigiani (Rat-Man) is on board to direct, with Christian De Vita (PJ Masks: Power Heroes) and Ilenia Provenzi (Topo Gigio) penning the scripts.
Super-powered critters have represented a popular and growing subgenre in kids TV over the past few years, thanks to shows like Hamster and Gretel (Disney Channel), SuperKitties (Disney Junior) and Superbuns (Peacock).
