The LEGO Group, The Pokémon Company International and Mattel took home the top honors at Circana’s 13th-annual Toy Industry Performance Awards, collectively scoring 30 wins in all tracked categories.
This awards program uses Circana’s Retail Tracking Service and annual value sales data from January to December to recognize the top-selling toys, properties and manufacturers across the US, Canada, Europe, Mexico and Brazil.
The LEGO Group won Global Toy Manufacturer of the Year for a second year in a row. The brickmaker’s LEGO Art and LEGO Icons products were the top-selling arts & crafts and building set toys in Europe, with its Hokusai—The Great Wave and Wildflower Bouquet (pictured) sets coming out on top in these same categories in the US.
Mattel took home the overall Global Top-Selling Toy of the Year award for its single-pack assortment of Hot Wheels vehicles. The Hot Wheels brand resonated particularly well in Brazil, where it racked up three awards for Top Toy Property of the Year, Top-Selling Toy of the Year and Top-Selling Vehicle. Meanwhile, Mattel’s Barbie Dreamhouse scored three wins of its own in the dolls category for the US, Canada and Brazil.
Pokémon was named Global Top Toy Property of the Year, fueled by the success of the iconic trading card game’s latest booster sets at retail. In particular, the Scarlet and Violet Center Elite Trainer Box was the Top-Selling Games and Puzzles toy in Canada, while the Crown Zenith Elite Trainer Box achieved the same result in the US.
