DeAPlaneta Entertainment has acquired distribution, digital and licensing rights in Europe (excluding the UK) and LatAm to a new CG-animated co-pro from Moody Studios and Epic Story Media called Mia & Codie.
Two seasons (40 x five minutes) of this educational coding-centric concept for three- to six-year-olds are currently in production, with Vancouver’s Relish Studios handling the animation. Canadian broadcasters TVOKids, TFO and Knowledge Network commissioned the show last October, and it will premiere March 12 on TVOKids, before rolling out in Israel on HOP! later this year.
Mia & Codie stars a young coder who builds herself a robot to be the little brother she’s always wanted. They set out on adventures and use their coding skills to solve problems they encounter along the way. Series creator Don Moody (WordWorld) is directing both seasons, with Shiela Rogerson (Max & Ruby) writing the scripts.
Carlos Biern, director of distribution for DeAPlaneta’s Kids & Family, sees consumer products potential for the IP in categories like publishing, toys and interactive products.
