Amazon has upped Aaron Berman to head of Amazon Kids original series, replacing Veronica Pickett, who departed earlier this month.

In his new role, Berman will oversee the development and production of original animated, unscripted and live-action series for the kids streaming platform, working closely with senior creative executive Josh Mandel.

Berman has been working under the Amazon umbrella since 2018, when he was hired to oversee the first slate of original series and podcasts for IMDb. Following this gig, he joined the Amazon Kids team in 2020 to manage current series. And earlier in his career, he oversaw the production of original shows for AOL from 2014 to 2016.

The timing of Berman’s promotion comes on the heels of Amazon announcing more than 700 layoffs across its Prime Video and Amazon MGM Studios teams. Pickett left before these cuts and has confirmed to Kidscreen that she is rejoining Nickelodeon later this year in a new role.
