New York/Beijing-based consulting firm China Bridge Content has recruited Stephen Kam (pictured) as a resident producer.
Based in Guangzhou, Kam officially started in this new role on January 15 and reports to founder and president Josh Selig. He is tasked with supporting regional clients in Southern China, while also working on several upcoming projects that the young company has in development.
China Bridge—which Selig launched three years ago—is looking to help build more partnerships between Chinese and international prodcos. The company also has a few kids shows in the works, including Peaches & Creaminal (52 x 11 minutes) with Toonz Media Group and Buffalo Nanny (52 x seven minutes).
This new hire is designed to support the company’s focus on increasing its client base, specifically in Southern China, where Selig says many players in the Chinese animation, licensing and toy industry have been migrating to in the past decade. Kam is responsible for managing the company’s business activities in this key region that includes Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Hong Kong and Macau.
Prior to joining China Bridge, Kam launched a company called Frenzy Entertainment three years ago that eventually became the exclusive licensing agent for Marvel Entertainment and Sony Pictures in China and Hong Kong. And before that, he spent nearly a decade as an executive producer and business development VP at animation studio Guangzhou BlueArc Cultural Communication, overseeing domestic toons such as Ultra Beast Force and Fruity Robo.
