The LEGO Group is restructuring its leadership in Asia Pacific as regional president Eric Maugein (pictured left) steps down after almost 20 years with the company.

Maugein announced on LinkedIn yesterday that he has transitioned into a senior consultant role, but will continue to advise the toyco on new and ongoing APAC projects. Over the past five years, Maugein has overseen an historic sales boom for LEGO products in the region. In 2022, this market generated US$965.9 million in net sales for the company, according to Statista—a 52% spike compared to 2017 (US$482.9 million).

LEGO has tapped Claus Kristensen (pictured right) to succeed Maugein, and he took the reins earlier this month as APAC SVP. Kristensen will oversee regional operations, as well as orchestrating the launch of two new business units to drive growth in high-potential areas of the broader region: India & Emerging Asia (IEA) and Singapore, Malaysia & Travel Retail (SMTR). He reports to EVP and chief commercial officer Colette Burke, and most recently served as APAC VP of marketing and e-commerce.

As part of this reshuffle, LEGO has also upped regional brand director Uma Ramana to head of marketing for APAC.
