Kids Preferred mines Universal’s iconic films for preschool toys

Hot franchises like Shrek and Madagascar are getting plush and playset ranges, along with some popular film IPs from the '70s and '80s.

In a new deal with Universal Products & Experiences, New Jersey’s Kids Preferred will manufacture and distribute licensed toys based on animated movie franchises like Kung Fu Panda, Shrek and Madagascar.

Hitting retail in the second half of 2024 as part of a “Welcome to the Universe Baby!” branded collection, this line will include plush, playsets and infant products (e.g. pacifiers). And leaning into parental nostalgia, it’ll also feature products based on Jaws, Back to the Future (pictured) and E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial

This deal is another big win for Kids Preferred, which announced a partnership with Sesame Workshop in November to launch a Sesame Street toy line in spring 2024.
