Apple TV+ has commissioned its first CG-animated Peanuts feature film from WildBrain and Peanuts Worldwide.
The original movie will see Snoopy, Charlie Brown and the rest of the Peanuts gang meet new friends when they leave their small town and head into the big city. WildBrain is planning to start production in 2024.
Steve Martino (Horton Hears a Who!) has been tapped to direct, with Bonnie Arnold (How to Train Your Dragon) serving as executive producer. Karey Kirkpatrick (Chicken Run) is currently writing a screenplay with Craig Schulz, Bryan Schulz and Cornelius Uliano, who developed the story and also scripted 20th Century Fox’s The Peanuts Movie (2015).
Apple TV+ is already home to Peanuts content including classic specials like It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown and A Charlie Brown Christmas, as well as upcoming original series Camp Snoopy and special Snoopy Presents: Welcome Home, Franklin, both of which will launch on the streamer next year.
