Thomas Ciampa (pictured) has joined the senior ranks of Rainbow Group to serve as COO of the Italian mediaco.
Ciampa officially stepped into the role today and reports to Iginio Straffi, CEO of Rainbow Group.
In this newly created position, the longtime entertainment executive will map out new development and investment strategies across the company—including a focus on expanding into more international projects and co-productions, Straffi said.
The company owns animation studios around the world, including Rainbow, Rainbow CGI, Bardel Entertainment Canada and Colorado Film. Some of its popular kids IPs include the Winx Club franchise, the CG-animated series 44 Cats and the preschool toon Pinocchio and Friends.
Ciampa brings decades of experience to Rainbow, having spent 25 years rising through the ranks at Warner Bros. in Italy, heading up its sales and theatrical distribution divisions. Eventually, he oversaw WarnerMedia’s business in Italy, Spain and Portugal as country manager. He departed the company last year amid WBD’s post-merger restructuring.
Before joining Rainbow, Ciampa spent a year as chief of international operations at Bamboo Production, a Rome-based prodco that launched in early 2022.
