Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood looks poised for an L&M boost in Turkey.

Istanbul-based Fauna Entertainment has signed an agreement with 9 Story Brands to serve as the local licensing agent for the popular preschool IP. To begin with, the company plans on creating books and puzzles in the market.

Free-to-air kids channel Minika Cocuk broadcasts the toon in Turkey. The series’ focus on a shy and imaginative tiger cub has resonated with Turkish kids and families, and there is a “steady demand” for the IP in the country, according to Beti Hekimoglu, Fauna’s director of business development. The interest means Turkey has emerged as a lucrative spot to expand CP deals for this Fred Rogers Productions and 9 Story Media Group co-pro.

Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood debuted on PBS KIDS in 2012, and its sixth season rolled out in September last year. The series spotlights social-emotional learning and is inspired by the fictional kingdom (known as the Neighborhood of Make-Believe) featured in the classic preschool series Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood, hosted by Fred Rogers.

9 Story’s Toronto-based studio Brown Bag Films handles the series’ animation work. 9 Story Brands, its brand management and consumer products arm, holds the show’s worldwide licensing rights and has secured a range of deals, including outdoor gear (carter joey), sensory toys (Glo), storybooks (Simon & Schuster) and apparel (Happy Threads).
