Ellipse Animation has hired Morgann Favennec as its first VP of international financing, with a remit that’s all about setting up international co-productions and securing presales for the Paris-based studio’s content.
Favennec, who left her EVP of distribution position at Xilam Animation this month, starts in her new role on September 15. She will work closely with new boss Caroline Audebert (managing director) and Lila Hannou (VP of creative development and strategy). Favennec is also taking part in the international development of Média-Participations Group’s IPs.
Favennec spent six years on Xilam’s distribution team, and prior to that, she worked in sales for 20 years at companies including French broadcaster M6, Superights and Disney Television.
Ellipse has a catalogue of 2D-animated shows that includes M6’s Living with Dad and Kid Lucky and France Télévisions’ The Fox Badger Family. Favennec is heading to Cartoon Forum in Toulouse, France this month (September 18 to 21). Ellipse will be there presenting the studio’s newest project: Komodo No Chill (78 x seven minutes). This comedy for six to nines is about a lizard who ends up living on an island with a herd of sheep, constantly aggravating them with his many schemes to find food and get warm.
