Moonbug Entertainment is boosting its footprint in the South Korean market. The kidco has expanded its distribution deal with one of the country’s largest broadcasters, KT, increasing the number of its shows available on KT’s IPTV service, Genie TV.

Genie TV, which already has Moonbug’s CoComelon and Little Angel series, will add the shows CoComelon Dance Party, CoComelon Animal Time, CoComelon Cody Time, Oddbods (season one, pictured) and Minibods, as well as new episodes of Little Angel. The service will launch the series in English and Korean on its KidsLand block on August 18.

Genie TV, which first picked up Moonbug content (CoComelon) in 2020 and later acquired Little Angel, has seen success with the kidco’s shows. In 2022, CoComelon was the most-watched kids show on the platform, while Little Angel ranked third, according to a release. That popularity makes adding more Moonbug content a natural step for KT, said its kids services manager, Won Kyung Baek, in a release.

“Both CoComelon and Little Angel have emerged as the foremost contributors to children’s English language learning and enjoyment within KidsLand,” he said.

Moonbug has been focusing on the South Korean market because it’s a key hub for reaching more audiences in Asia, said YoungAh Park, its commercial director for Korea, in the release. Moonbug hired Park in April as its first-ever commercial director for the region, and her joining the company, as well as adding more content to KT, helps the kidco support its existing licensing agreements for toys, apparel and party goods in APAC.
