Batman executive producer Michael Uslan has signed up with online bookstore Legible to develop characters for 12 new digital and print comics inspired by Stan Lee’s unpublished concepts.

This talent deal builds on Legible and Kartoon Studio announcing a partnership last week to work on the Stan Lee project as a collaboration. They’ll develop and distribute the comics for pre-teens and older audiences together based on characters fleshed out by Uslan and his son David.

Michael has been working at Kartoon since 2020 as an advisor, with a remit to steer its TV and film projects. He was brought in on the strength of his experience in production and publishing, as well as his lifelong love of comics and superheroes.

Michael is the executive producer of Batman films including The Dark Knight Rises (2012) and The Batman (2022), and he also produced Swamp Thing (1982) and The Return of Swamp Thing (1989). He used to worked at DC Comics, where he created The Shadow in 1975.
