Rainbow Loom and Cloudco are teaming up to make Care Bears jewelry and craft kits. The partners will launch the range at retail in 2024, featuring charms and figurines that kids can use to create their own jewelry.
Animax
LA-based KC Global Media, which operates APAC channels including Animax, is bringing the anime-centric network to Sri Lanka. The company has partnered with regional pay-TV service provider Dialog Television to launch Animax on its SVOD platform and Dialog ViU app on July 1. Content will stream in Japanese with English subtitles.
Powerkids Entertainment
The prodco has signed several new broadcast deals for animated series The Jungle Book, The Psammy Show and Dragonero—Tales of Paladins. Astro (Malaysia) has picked up the first season of The Jungle Book (52 x 11 minutes). And in India, Tata Play and Unique TV have bought season three (52 x 11 minutes), with ETV and Shemaroo TV acquiring season four (78 x seven minutes). Canal+ has renewed its license to The Jungle Book seasons one and two in French-speaking Europe and Africa, as well as spinoff series The Jungle Book-Safari (26 x 12 minutes).
Meanwhile, MBC (MENA) and TVNZ (New Zealand) have picked up streaming rights to Powerkids’ new adventure series Dragonero—Tales of Paladins (26 x 22 minutes), with TVNZ (New Zealand) also acquiring season one of fantasy series The Psammy Show (52 x 11 minutes).
The CW
The CW Network has picked up family-friendly comedy series Son of a Critch (pictured) from CBC Canada and Lionsgate Television to launch next month. Based on a same-name book by actor, writer and series creator Mark Critch, this 26 x 22-minuter follows the life of a young boy coming of age in the ’80s. Andrew Barnsley (Schitt’s Creek) is an executive producer on the show, with Tim McAuliffe (Last Man on Earth) writing scripts. Son of a Critch premiered in January 2022 on the CBC, which renewed it for a third season (13 x 30 minutes) that’s being co-produced with The CW.
